The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland

Heather attained a first class honours degree in Scottish Piano from The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow. During her time here, she was taught by prolific Scottish pianists including Hamish Napier, Mary McCarthy, Heather Downie and James Ross.

Throughout her time here, Heather gained a lot of performance experience including performing with a select group of musicians from the Conservatoire in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Heather also regularly performed with Phil Cunningham and Aly Bain at their St. Andrew's concert in The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.

Educator

Heather later became dual qualified in Primary and Secondary (Music) education. She is now Faculty Head of Practical and Creative subjects at a secondary school.

Heather also teaches music (piano and accordion) out with schools. Some of her pupils include Poppy Mackay (piano), Cody Thomson (accordion) and Arabella Rennie (fiddle/voice) who are emerging into the Scottish Music scene.

The National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music

Prior to studying in Glasgow at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Heather attended The National Centre of Excellence in Tradition Music in Plockton. She was taught here by exceptional musicians such as Andy Thorburn, Sandy Brechin and Gordon Gunn.

Experienced and Professional Performer

Heather is experienced at performing solo at weddings and other events. She has impeccable organisation skills and is exceptionally professional in all areas. These attributes will put your at ease for your big day, one less thing to take care of!

CherryGrove

Heather was a founding member of the band 'CherryGrove'. The band performed throughout Scotland and further afield including the London 2012 Olympics and various festivals including Celtic Connections, The National Celtic Festival in Melbourne, Australia, and Festival Interceltique de Lorient in Brittany, France. Throughout the band's time together they released multiple EPs and a debut album.

Genres

Heather specialised in Scottish and Popular Music. However, with her musical abilities, Heather is able to learn a wide variety styles or genres of music. If there is a specific piece of music you would like Heather to learn for your big day, please get in touch to discuss your ideas!
